FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why does Window Armor USA want to perform a pre-installation inspection?

The pre-installation inspection process is essential for creating an accurate proposal tailored to the specific square footage of window film required.

This inspection also allows us to assess the type and condition of the glass and framing, ensuring a proper and safe selection of film-to-glass applications. Additionally, this process helps us identify potential installation challenges, including:

– IGU Seal Failure
– Stickers on the Glass
– Alarm System Components
– Framing Challenges
– Broken or Cracked Glass
– Potentially Harmful Shading

How Can I Prepare for Installation day?

Preparing in advance can help ensure a smooth installation process. Here are some steps you can take:

Clear Window Sills: Remove all items from window sills, including plants and decorative objects.

Adjust Window Treatments: If removing window treatments isn’t feasible, please position them to allow easy access to the glass.

Coordinate with Window Armor Rep: It’s a good idea to discuss clearing access to the windows with your rep prior to installation.

What Can I Do About Dust, Airborne Contaminants, and My Pets?

Creating a clean environment is crucial for a successful window film installation. Here are some steps you can take:

Close Vents: Ensure that all air conditioning and heating vents near the windows are closed.

Vacuum Thoroughly: Vacuum carpets and floors shortly before the installation begins to minimize dust and debris.

Relocate Pets: If possible, it’s best to remove pets from the area during the installation process to ensure their safety and comfort.

Should I Mention Any Previous Glass Breakage or IGU Seal Failure Issues?

YES! It’s crucial to inform your Window Armor USA representative if you’ve experienced any instances of glass breakage or insulated glass unit (IGU) seal failure.

This information is essential to perform a thorough assessment and recommend the appropriate window film product. Not sharing this information may lead to film-to-glass incompatibility, which could void your warranty.

What Cleaning Solution Should i Use?

Traditional non-ammonia glass cleaners work fine.

A mild, soapy water solution is recommended.

Mix 1/2 ounce of liquid dish soap in a 1-quart spray bottle of water.

How Long Will It Take For The Window Film To Dry-Out?

The time it takes for your window film to dry-out depends on the climate. Dry-out can range from a few days to a few weeks. Cold, non-sunny weather can lengthen dry-out time. Warm weather and direct sunlight will shorten dry-out time. If water bubbles and cloudiness persists, contact your sales representative.

Should I move furniture?

Yes, we advise moving any and all furniture that may obstruct easy access to the windows. If you have heavy furniture that is difficult to move, your rep may be able to assist with this. Be sure to discuss furniture placement and access with your rep before installation day to ensure everything goes smoothly.

What Cleaning Materials Should i Use?

For cleaning, we recommend using a soft, clean microfiber cloth. NEVER use abrasive brushes, pads, scrubbers, or rough cloths.

WARNING:

Some cleaning cloths and paper towels may be too coarse and can damage the scratch-resistant surface of your window film, affecting its appearance over time.

The most common causes of window film damage are abrasive cleaning materials and impacts from rings and watches. If you hire a window cleaning service, please inform them that you have window film so they can adjust their cleaning methods accordingly.

Will I See Moisture In The Window Film After Installation?

Yes, it is normal for a small amount of moisture, haze and/or tiny water bubbles to appear.

Allow the moisture to evaporate naturally.

Any moisture trapped between the film and the glass will dissipate over time.

Please refrain from attempting to pierce any water bubbles during the drying process, as doing so may damage the film and void your warranty.

When Can I Clean My Window Film?

Do not clean your new window film for at least 30 days after installation. 30 days is necessary to ensure that the film’s adhesive adheres to the glass.
